On Monday, AFGE HUD Council 222 entered into negotiations with Management on its "Procedures For Providing Reasonable Accommodation For Individuals With Disabilities." The Union strives to provide every employee the right to expect a model workplace that provides reasonble accommodation.
Much to our dismay the Department has refused to include a written process that would encompass electronic technology, (e.g. mouses, ergonomic keyboards, monitors) in its policies and procedures for reasonable accommodations.
It is a disgrace that a Department charged with enforcing the Civil Rights Act would blatantly ignore the lawful right of its employees. We urge you to express your concerns to the HUD Council by sending us an e:mail at AFGE COUNCIL 222/ADMIN/RIC/HUD@HUD (or just hit "reply" after reading this email). Use your creative ideas to let Officials know how you feel as we prepare to celebrate the birthday of one of the worlds great Civil Rights leaders, Martin Luther King, Jr.
